Vicky Kaushal’s Upcoming Movie ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ To Have An OTT RELEASE?

Since the first day, handsome hunk Vicky Kaushal starrer Udham Singh’s biopic movie has been making a lot of buzz.

Announced in 2019, the Shoojit Sircar directorial was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on October 2, 2020.

Titled as ‘Sardar Udham Singh’, Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role- revolutionary freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to seek revenge for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Given the current situation of the theatrical business, we hear that the makers are aiming for a direct-to-digital premiere for the Vicky Kaushal starrer biopic.

If this Pinkvilla report is to be believed, ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ will reportedly premiere on Amazon Prime Video during the Dussehra weekend next month.

‘Sardar Udham Singh’ to reportedly have an OTT release

“Sardar Udham Singh will premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video during the Dussehra weekend. The tentative release date at the moment is October 16 and the team is supremely excited to present their film to the audience. It was meant for a theatrical viewing; however, an unprecedented situation has resulted in a direct to OTT premiere,” a source revealed to the portal.

Touted to be a big-scale biopic made on a massive budget, the team took a long time during the post-production. The filming of ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ was wrapped up in December 2019.

“In fact, Shoojit and co. had sold Gulabo Sitabo to Amazon in the early days of pandemic only because they could hold on to Sardar Udham Singh for a theatrical release. It has been 15 months since then, and the virus is still hovering around the globe. The exhibition section too is far off from revival and given the kind of money involved in the film, the makers thought, it’s best to arrive in the digital world,” the source added.

Recently, Vicky Kaushal completed dubbing for the biopic. Sharing a picture from the recording studio, the actor wrote, “Dubbed and dusted.”

The movie, which also stars ‘Feels Like Ishq’ actor Amol Parashar in a pivotal role, has apparently been shot in Russia, UK, Ireland, Germany, and North India
