The undisputed poster boy of the movie-with-a-message cinema, Ayushmann Khurrana is back with another unconventional movie ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’.
Co-starring Vaani Kapoor, the Abhishek Kapoor directorial was released in cinemas on December 10, 2021.
‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ deals with the sensitive topic of a trans love story, where Vaani plays the role of a trans woman (assigned male at birth but transitioned into a woman through sex reassignment surgery).
The movie opened to positive reviews by both the critics and the audience and a box office collection of Rs 3.75 crores on its first day.
Now, we hear that the Ayushmann Khurrana-Vaani Kapoor starrer has apparently collected a whopping amount of Rs 22.61 crores in its first week.
Meanwhile, the movie is facing stiff competition from the Hollywood movie ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (arrived in cinemas yesterday- December 16) as the MCU superhero flick is impacting Chandigarh Kare Aahiqui’s box office collection.
