Popular playback singer-host Shaan has hit the headlines for heart-breaking news.
The singer’s mother, Sonali Mukherjee, has passed away on Thursday (January 20) morning.
While the cause of her demise is still unknown, Shaan recently took to social media to confirm the news.
Posting a picture of her mother, the singer wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the demise of our mother Mrs Sonali Mukherjee. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.”

Earlier today, Shaan’s fellow singer Kailash Kher had broken out the saddening news on Twitter.
Paying his condolences on Twitter, Kailash wrote in Hindi, “Elder brother Shaan’s mother passed away. Prayers to the Almighty for the salvation of the departed soul. It is a prayer to Lord Shiva, the ruler of all the three worlds, that our Shaan Bhaiya’s family should get the strength to bear this sorrow. Eternal Prayer.”
Shaan often talks about how his single mother had worked immensely hard to raise him and his sister after their father passed away in 1986.
Earlier, during an interview, Shaan had credited his mother Sonali for his singing career.
