The hype for this pan-Indian, Yash-actioner is real; insane advance booking, jam-packed shows, and a thoroughly TURNT UP audience whistling in theatres. Produced on a budget of ₹100 crores, the movie is expected to be a gold MINE at the box office.
Now, KGF 2 is an out-n-out mass action entertainer, so you’re kind of expected to swallow the pill of over-the-top action. But just sit back, put your head aside and enjoy Yash’s swagger vs Sanjay Dutt growling! (There’s so MUCH GROWLING, dude)
Let’s dive right in!
Storyline:
After journalist-author Anand Ingalagi gets hospitalised, the narration of Rocky’s story is taken over by his son Vijayendra (Prakash Raj).
Continuing from where we left off in the 1st part, Rocky (Yash) returns with even more badassery up his sleeve in his quest for ‘DUNIYA’.
After killing Garuda, Rocky becomes the king of KGF mines and is quickly drawn into a battle of dominance on all fronts. The brutal Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) is out for blood and ready to reassert his alpha-male status at KGF.
Meanwhile, prime Minister Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon) is threatened by Rocky’s growing empire and is determined to crush him like a bug. On the business front, Inayat Khalil, the Dubai don, ain’t gonna do business with Rocky… so he gotta offer him a deal he can’t refuse.
Packed with seeti-maaro but sometimes CRINGE-worthy macho dialogues, masala action, lots of hair flips and slow-mo action scenes, Chapter 2 is all about Rocky’s meteoric rise to power with guns, gore and glory!
What Do We Think?
The 1st part felt all over the place in terms of story – in comparison Chapter 2 is more coherent and structured in its narration and offers better emotional investment. The excessive hero worship seems to be slightly toned down too.
One thing that really bugged me about the previous part was how Rocky appeared to be ridiculously immune to bullets. But part 2 proves he’s only human after all. Yash owns the screen with his sheer presence and swagger (dude what glorious hair!) but I wish they took it easy with the slow-motion action scenes. Gets a bit repetitive after a while.
The lengthy runtime can be justified because there’s A LOT of shit happening. There’s never a dull moment as Rocky is engaged in a constant powerplay and all those karname are quite fun to watch, to be honest.
But I gotta say, for a movie that celebrates a mother’s words and struggles so much, it sure does treat the love interest with casual misogyny. Srinidhi Shetty as Reena doesn’t have much to do except play the disgruntled ladylove. Rocky-Reena’s toxic and weird love story is off-putting and frankly a little abrupt in places, breaking the flow of action.
KGF 2 works when it instead offers more glimpses at Rocky’s powerful and emotional bond with his mother.
Coming to our Sanju Baba – he’s menacing as Adheera, the VIKING fanboy. The face-off between Yash-Sanjay Dutt is hella entertaining. Raveena Tandon has a MEATY role as Ramika Sen and gives a powerful, haughty performance. We like!
Overall, KGF Chapter 2 is richer in terms of story and larger-than-life action sequences. The background music is SICK! Hang around for the post-credit scene!

Being a totally unapologetic MASSY entertainer, KGF Chapter 2 is a hit for sure.
