When Akshay Kumar appeared in a Vimal Elaichi ad alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, he became the subject of heavy criticism online.
Vimal uses surrogate advertising, that is – even though the product that is being shown in the ad is elaichi, the ad is actually promoting Vimal’s brand name, which is famous for gutka!

Akshay Kumar Apologises!
Akshay Kumar then took to Instagram to apologise to his fanbase and declare that he would contribute his fees to a worthy cause.

I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause.”
“The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes,” he added.
