After 5 years of their big-fat wedding, childhood sweethearts Kukoo and Nainaa (played Varun Dhawan & Kiara Advani) are on the verge of getting divorced. The couple has moved to Canada and Nainaa is quite successful in her career, whereas Kukoo is struggling to find a stable job. Despite holding a Hotel Management degree, Kukoo works as a bouncer at a club.

Kukoo and Naina decide to break the news of their divorce to his parents Bheem & Geeta (played by Anil Kapoor and Neetu kapoor) when they come back to Punjab for Kukoo’s sister Ginny‘s (played by Prajakta Koli) wedding.

Things take a dramatic turn when Kukoo finds out that his father is also planning to divorce his wife, Meera, as he has found new love in Meera, Kukoo’s Maths teacher in school, (played by Tisca Chopra).

What Do We Think?

First things first, JugJugg Jeeyo ticks all the boxes for an out-and-out ‘Dharma’ family-drama. From a huge ensemble cast to lavish sets, big-fat Punjabi shaadi, oh-so-wow wedding outfits and chartbuster songs… this Raj Mehta directorial has it all.

Varun’s performance as Kukoo – from a lover who exudes boy-next-door charm to a confused, angry-young-man and frustrated son-husband – is worth mentioning. On the other hand, Kiara leaves a mark with her performance as Nainaa. She aces the emotional confrontation scene with Varun. Their onscreen chemistry is absolutely ‘first-class’.

P.S.- Kiara Advani looks pretty from each and every angles!

After a long hiatus, Neetu Kapoor made a strong comeback on the big screen. Neetu slips into the skin of Geeta – a typical mother who dishes out ‘maa sab janti hai’ vibes – convincingly. She is effortless, relatable and poised. The role of Bheem is tailor-made for Anil Kapoor (I’m sure everyone will agree). He is brilliant with his comic timing and dialogue delivery.

Maniesh Paul as Gurpreet is the heart of the show. He lightens up the mood in every scene that he is a part of. Maniesh’s bromance with Varun is one of the USPs of this film. The trio – Varun, Anil and Maniesh – will tickle your funny bone.

Popular YouTuber Prajakta Koli makes her big Bollywood debut in this film. Prajakta as Ginny is cute and confident.

JugJugg Jeeyo has its own flaws just like their characters… The runtime is too long. The pace in the second half is little slow. The movies stars off on a promising note but flounders a bit here and there.

Hit Or Miss?

Oh yes, it’s a HIT! If you are a sucker for a typical Bollywood family-drama, you’re gonna enjoy JugJugg Jeeyo.

In Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, it was – “It’s all about loving your family” but in case of JugJugg Jeeyo, yet another Darma family-drama, “It’s all about keeping your family together.”
