Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s magnum opus Heeramandi series first-look teaser was dropped recently.
Set in pre-Independent India, the 8-episode series will stream exclusively on Netflix.
Heeramandi stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal and Sanjeeda Sheikh in the lead as courtesans of Lahore.
The series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, through the stories of courtesans and their patrons set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s.
On Saturday, Netflix India dropped teaser videos featuring glimpses of the star cast of Heeramandi and the text in the videos read –
“Sanjay Leela Bhansali invites you to the world where courtesans were Queens.”
