“Women Themselves Can Be Impediments To FEMINISM” – Says Kajol, See FULL Comment

Date:

Here’s what Kajol said about feminism in a recent interview –

While talking to Humans Of Bombay, Kajol confessed that she is a burn-the-bra sort of feminist. Having grown up with natural feminists, she revels in being feminine and owning your power!

Kajol believes feminism at its core is an innate belief in ourselves where we feel we’re equal and not beneath anyone.

I’m A Burn-The-Bra Feminist – says Kajol

“I was brought up by women who were natural feminists. Who were never told that they cannot do this and who never taught us either that we can’t do this. If the plumber had to be called, or if the washing machine was spoilt or a bulb had to be changed…it was us…it was just us. And we did it all without thinking twice about it. That’s feminisim at its core. I’m a burn-the-bra feminist.

That is what feminine power is …it should be so very natural to you to stand up and say that I can do this, this and this. You don’t have to make a big deal out of it. You don’t really need ‘need’ anybody else to support you. We should all have that innate belief in ourselves.”

Women Themselves Can Be Impediments To Feminism-

Kajol also feels sometimes women can themselves be an impediment to feminism and some like appearing dumber and useless than they actually are. She claims to be the total opposite of that.

“I think the biggest people who are impediments to true feminism are women themselves. I truly think it actually has nothing to do with the guys, it has nothing to do with the men. It has to do with the women not wanting to own up to that, not wanting to… Like some women actually like the fact that they appear you know a little dumber than normal, a little more useless, a little more brain-dead. They like it that way. I’m completely opposite side.”

Not Fierce But Feminine –

When the interviewer asked what it was like growing up with fierce women in the house, Kajol interrupted and said that they weren’t fierce but feminine.

“My grandmother was very feminine. It’s not a fierceness but more of an innate knowing – that I’m a woman and I’m definitely not beneath you, I’m definitely your equal, if not above you…no two ways about it, whoever you may be in front of me. My grandma handled the money, the house! All these people around me showed me being feminine and owning your power!
