Karan Johar was known for making films that started with the letter ‘K’ and gave us several hits like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho including others over the years.

However, the director-producer decided to let go off his ‘K’ superstition after watching Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi‘s film Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), directed by Rajkumar Hirani.

Talking about it, KJo had once told a daily

“When I walked out of the cinema after watching Lage Rao Munna Bhai in New York, I thought I should drop the K. It was the effect the film had on me. It inspires you to tell the truth and fills you with inspiration. So, if I drop the ‘K’, it will be courtesy Munna Bhai and this is the first time I am saying this!”

However, after a few successes, his films like Kaal (2005), Kurbaan (2009) failed miserably at the box office despite its name starting with ‘K’.

“Superstition is a state of mind. With determination and sincerity, one can oversoe superstitions and gain power. I want to overcome this and become more powerful. That is not to say I will drop the K from my name and become Aran,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the work front, KJo is gearing up for the release of his upcoming directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead.

He has completed 25 years in the industry and is back on director’s chair after a gap of 7 years.
