National Award-Winning Bollywood Art Director Nitin Desai Dies By SUICIDE At 57!

Popular art director Nitin Desai has died by suicide at the age of 57.

He had worked on popular films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas to name a few.

According to reports, Nitin Desai was found dead at his own ND Studios near Karjat on Wednesday morning (2 August 2023). While the police is yet to share the details about the cause of his death, it is claimed that he died by suicide.

Reportedly, he hung himself to death at 4:30 am and was found by his coworkers.

“Desai had gone to his room at 10 pm last night. When did not come out for a long time this morning, his bodyguard and other people went to his room, which was locked. Later, they found his body hanging from the fan.”

This devastating news comes days before his 58th birthday on 9th August. Mahesh Baldi, local MLA from Karjat, claimed that late Nitin Desai died by suicide due to financial crisis allegedly.

“Nitin Desai’s ND studio comes in my constituency, the financial crisis was going on for many days and due to that, he committed suicide in ND studio this morning.”

– Mahesh Baldi claimed.

The investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, Somnath Gharge, Superintendent of Police, Raigad, told the media

“We are investigating from all angles.”

For the unversed, late Nitin Desai was a four-time National award winner for Best Art Direction. In his over two-decade-long career, he had worked with several celebrated directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra among others.
