For the unversed, Samantha Ruth Prabh had tied the knot with her Majili co-star Naga Chaitanya on 6 October 2017. They had married in Goa as per traditional Hindu customs on 6 October 2017. Then even had a Christian wedding on 7 October 2017.
However, the couple announced their separation 4 years later on 2nd October 2021. Amidst the divorce news, many rumours started going rife about why the couple had parted ways.
Samantha had rubbished reports of affairs and abortions sternly. It was reported that the split had happened because the Akkineni family had a problem with Samantha doing bold, intimate scenes and item numbers on-screen after marriage.
Samantha Talks About Opposition To Oo Antava
In conversation with Miss Malini, she had revealed that her friends and family told her to not do an item song after announcing the separation
She said – “When I was offered ‘Oo Antava,’ it was in the middle of the separation. After the news was made, every well-wisher and family member said, “You will sit at home, you will not do an item song simply because you have declared your split.”
Even my friends, who were usually encouraging me to push myself, cautioned me, “Do not do an item song.” But I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to do it.’”
