Medha – internet’s new crush – had her breakthrough in the Vikrant Massey starrer.
Medha Shankar has been at the receiving end of attention and praises lately for her beautiful performance in 12th Fail. She played the role of Shraddha Joshi in the film.
Besides Vikrant, people are also lauding Medha for playing her role with such warmth and poise. Reportedly, she has got 1+ million followers on Instagram in he past 7 days.
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail depicts the true story of an IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma (played by Vikrant Massey) hailing from a small town in Chambal who wants to join the police force.
Who Is 12th Fail Actress Medha Shankar?
Born and brought up in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Medha Shankar completed her schooling in Noida and did her graduation in Commerce from Delhi University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Fashion Management from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi.
As per reports, her father, Abhay Shankar is a businessman, while her mother, Archana Raj Shankar is a choreographer.
After trying her hands in modelling, Medha made her acting debut with the 2019 British series – Beecham House, where she essayed the role of Roshanara. She made her movie debut with Shaadisthan in 2021.
In 2022, she appeared in Max, Min and Meowzaki, a movie that received critical acclaim at various film festivals.
In 2023, Shankar had her breakthrough with her portrayal of Shraddha, an UKPSC officer in the drama film 12th Fail, opposite Vikrant Massey.
She is also a trained Hindustani classical singer. The actress lent her own voice in the song, Bolo Nah, from 12th Fail.
During an interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra commented –
“She is actually singing on location. Medha Shankar, when I was casting, I wanted to cast a girl who could sing. In the movie, it is not Shreya Ghoshal’s voice. It’s Medha Shankar singing on location – that’s location sound.”
12th Fail has secured the no. 1 spot on all-time IMDb’s top 250 films of Indian cinemas. It has also become the highest rated movie of this year on IMDb, beating Hollywood films like Oppenheimer, Barbie and others.
