Yodha Movie Review:

One might go in for Yodha, expecting a generic hijack thriller from the trailer – hero storms in and saves the day, but one is in for a pleasant surprise!

Yodha is a slick, fast-paced aerial action thriller with quite a few unexpected curveballs to shake up the monotony. It is not as straightforward and standard as it seems! However, the whole ‘cocky air commando with a love for insubordination’ bit has been overdone now – be it Fighter, Operation Valentine or Yodha.

Yodha Movie Review:

The Sagar Ambre-Pushkar Ojha directorial is technically sound with graceful action choreography. Sidharth Malhotra excels as an action hero here, particularly in the hand-to-hand combat scenes. He looks utterly dashing and charismatic as an air commando. He is initially reminiscent of his Shershaah look but does manage to be different enough in Yodha.

While the romance portion is shallow and pretty much a filler, the 1st half dives into things quickly and is tightly packed. Disha Patani has a significant character arc post the interval and gets some badass fight scenes flaunting her physical prowess. She works big time as a competent action heroine!

Raashii Khanna gives a decent, understated performance barring the occasional forced cutesy moments. The ending is a little bit of an overkill and Yodha has nothing new to say on the Kashmir issue, so it gets the same fatigued, cliche treatment.

Yodha works when it sticks to being an aerial actioner… the forced massy moments stand out as somewhat awkward.

Hit Or Miss:

But definitely worth watching on the big screen. A slick, aerial action thriller that is different than a standard hijack film! Sidharth is in top form as an action hero here!
