In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, Rajkummar shared a heartfelt memory from the time when money was tight, but love was in abundance.
It was during the early days of his career when Rajkummar wasn’t earning big bucks. Film roles were trickling in, but the pay wasn’t much. Still, when Patralekhaa expressed a liking for a luxury bag, Rajkummar decided he had to get it for her. Even if it meant hustling hard.
“Honestly, I don’t really remember how long it took, but back then, in the early days of my films, the pay wasn’t great, like, very little. Sometimes just 1 lakh, maybe 3 lakhs for others. But eventually, the money got saved up,” Rajkummar recalled.
Patralekhaa had her eyes on something special. It was the Chanel Boy Bag; a fashion statement that’s iconic and definitely not cheap. Rajkummar remembered how much she loved it and knew he had to do something special.
“We were out somewhere shooting, and she needed that bag. I knew she loved it, so I surprised her and just went and got the bag for her,” he shared.
Interviewer Aaina Mehta couldn’t help but call him out on his romantic gesture. “You’re such a romantic!” they said. And honestly, how could you not think that after hearing this story?

When asked if he remembered which bag it was, Rajkummar responded instantly with a smile, “Of course! It was a Chanel Boy Bag.”
