Exclusive: Armaan Malik Says, “In Regional Cinema The Payment Is Proper, Compared To Bollywood!”

Singer Armaan Malik has always been honest about the music industry. In a recent exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, he spoke openly about how regional cinema offers better respect and payment to artists compared to Bollywood.

Exclusive: Armaan Malik Says Bollywood Is Not Really A Source Of Income For Singers

Armaan, who has delivered chart-topping hits like Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar, Jab Tak and more, shared some eye-opening thoughts. He said that Bollywood, surprisingly, is not really a good source of income for singers. The payment often doesn’t come on time for them.

Talking about the difference in regional cinema, he said that when he sings in languages like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, and Gujarati, the payment is much better. Not just that, artists also feel more respected.

“Directly from songs, there’s not much income in Bollywood. But in regional cinema – when I sing in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati films, the payment is proper. I think there’s a lot of respect for time, talent, and artists in general over there,” he commented.

Despite the general trend of underpayment in Bollywood, Armaan shared that he has worked with some great composers who always make sure everyone is paid fairly. He mentioned Salim-Sulaiman as a great example.

Armaan Malik Says His Music Is Becoming More Independent

These days, Armaan is focusing more on his independent and pop music. He feels that it makes more sense to put energy into something that truly brings him joy.

“My music now has become more independent and pop-centric, because I feel like focusing on things that actually don’t give you the same energy doesn’t really make sense,” he explained.

In a world where artists often stay quiet about payment issues, Armaan’s honesty is refreshing. His words also shine a light on how regional industries are doing a better job at valuing artists.

At the end of the day, his message is simple. Respect talent. Pay fairly. And choose passion over pressure.
