When it comes to love and marriage, should you follow your heart or your head? Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood star Govinda, has no doubts choosing her heart.
EXCLUSIVE: Why Sunita Ahuja’s Dad Refused To Attend Her Wedding With Govinda!
In a heartfelt and honest chat with Instant Bollywood, she opened up about one of the most emotional chapters of her life – her wedding day, and why her beloved father chose not to be a part of it.

Sunita shared that her father, who had experience in the film industry, was not too thrilled when she decided she wanted to marry Govinda. While her mother was fond of Govinda, her father had his reservations. He had already found a boy for her from Holland and had dreams of a different kind of match for his daughter.
“My dad was from the film industry. He knew what an actor’s life is like. He had seen a boy for me from Holland. But by then, I had already started seeing Govinda.”

When Sunita expressed her desire to marry the actor, her father was deeply upset. What followed was a clash between a daughter’s love and a father’s concern.
“My dad was so upset. He said, ‘I won’t attend your wedding.’ And I loved my dad a lot. I was the youngest. It hurt me, but love is blind. I told him in anger, ‘Then don’t come!’ And he really didn’t come to my wedding.”
But when it came to choosing between her love and her family’s approval, she chose Govinda, even if that meant tying the knot without her father’s blessings.

When asked what advice she would give to others who face a similar dilemma, Sunita did not hesitate.
“I don’t think practically. I think from my heart. If I love someone, I’m ready to give my life for them. But if someone betrays me, I’m ready to take their life too. That’s the balance. When a woman marries, she is Lakshmi. But if wronged, she can become Kali.”
Sunita’s story is a reminder that love is not always smooth. Sometimes it demands difficult choices. Sometimes it comes with heartbreak and sacrifice. But at the end of the day, it is your decision to make.
