In a fun and freewheeling chat with Instant Bollywood, Kull actress Nimrat Kaur opened up about the stark differences she’s noticed between working in India and the West.
EXCLUSIVE: Nimrat Kaur On Hollywood Vs Bollywood – “We Are Very Adjusting”

Having worked on international projects like Homeland, Nimrat had some interesting observations about global work culture vs things back home.
“What we do better is that we are very adjusting,” she said. “If we’re in some situation, we accommodate. Like, ‘Okay, if you can’t handle this, I’ll do it.’”

She also pointed out how the approach abroad is more structured and compartmentalised.
“There, it’s like, ‘You do your work, we’ll do ours.’ The lines don’t get blurred. It has both positives and negatives,” she added.
One thing she truly admires is how seriously time is taken in the West. “For them, 5:00 means 5:00. Not 4:55, not 5:05. Five means five,” Nimrat said firmly. “That respect for time… your own time, and other people’s time, that’s something I really like.”
How Nimrat Kaur Can Never Be Fashionably Late Even If She Tries
Thanks to her army upbringing, Nimrat’s own sense of time is razor sharp. She shared that punctuality is second nature to her, even if it makes her stick out. Sometimes, she joked, it actually becomes a bit of a problem. She’s so used to being on time that she often ends up apologising to her team for being “late,” only to be reassured that she’s well within time, especially when it’s her own event.
Even socially, the habit sticks. “If there’s a dinner or party, I try to arrive fashionably late. But no matter what, I end up being the first one there. And I’m like, ‘What is this embarrassment?’” she laughed.
From hectic sets to weekend gatherings, Nimrat shows up on time or even earlier. While it might leave her waiting alone now and then, it’s also what sets her apart. One thing’s for sure- when Nimrat says she’ll be there at 5, she means it.
