You probably remember her line that went viral – “I will set beauty standards.” And she meant it. But at the time, not everyone got the memo.
“Back then, people thought I was just lazy,” she says, almost amused. “There’s a difference between being curvy and being lazy. I’m not saying don’t exercise, of course, work out. But also, embrace your body type. Stay healthy in your own way.”

“It Takes A Toll On Your Health & Mind” – Mrunal On Drastic Transformations
What many people don’t realise is that for actors, changing physically isn’t always a matter of personal lifestyle. Sometimes, it’s just part of the job. Mrunal explains that weight gain or loss can be entirely role-driven. But unfortunately, that context is often missing when people comment on her body.
“They don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. They don’t know if my weight gain is for a character or because of something else. And honestly, I don’t want to explain it to them either,” she says with a shrug. “It’s fine if they don’t know what I’m doing. One day, when it all comes out, they’ll be surprised. They’ll appreciate me and say, ‘Oh, Mrunal transformed for that role.’”
But that kind of transformation doesn’t come easy. The physical changes are just the surface. “It takes a toll on your health,” she admits. “And on your mind too. Because your thought process changes. Your activity levels depend on your weight; how active or inactive you are. So, it just takes a massive toll on your emotions too.”
