Janhvi Kapoor addressed swirling rumours about cosmetic surgery, including a procedure called “buffalo-plasty,” during her appearance on the show Two Much With Kajol & Twinkle.
She dismissed the speculation and spoke candidly about how fixation on such trends can harm young women.

The murmurs had claimed that Janhvi had undergone a buffalo-plasty — a surgical technique more commonly known as a bullhorn lip lift, which shortens the area between the nose and upper lip to create a fuller appearance. Janhvi rejected the rumours as baseless, calling the entire notion fabricated and expressing concern for the influence such mis-information can wield.
She said she had come across a viral clip made by “self-proclaimed doctors” dissecting her features and suggesting procedures she never had. She labelled the phenomenon “the worst thing ever” and warned of the dangers when young viewers internalise these messages. “If a young girl watches this and decides ‘mujhe bhi ye buffalo-plasty karna hai,’ and something goes wrong, that would be the worst thing ever,” she said.

While Janhvi did open up about having cosmetic work done, she emphasised honesty and clarity rather than staying silent. She shared how her late mother, Sridevi, guided her decisions and that she made changes consciously and conservatively. “I don’t believe in gate-keeping,” she stated, adding that looking and feeling comfortable in one’s own body matters more than chasing “ideal” looks.
By openly addressing the rumours and promoting realistic expectations around beauty, Janhvi is contributing to a healthier dialogue in Bollywood. Her remarks highlight the pressures actors face and encourage young women to question unrealistic standards rather than succumb to them.
