When Salim Khan Explained Why Salman Khan Won’t Get Married; Said He Tries To Convert Girlfriends, Sees His Mother In Them
Why Salman Khan remained Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor was something fans had debated for years. While rumours kept coming and going, one of the most honest explanations had come straight from his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan.

When Salim Khan Explained Why Salman Khan Won’t Get Married; Said He Tries To Convert Girlfriends, Sees His Mother In Them
In an old interaction with film trade analyst Komal Nahta, Salim Khan had opened up about the real reason Salman never got married. According to him, it all came down to a contradiction in Salman’s expectations from love and marriage.

Salim had explained that Salman was often attracted to women he worked closely with, usually the heroines of his films.
“There is a contradiction in his thinking, which is one of the reasons why he’s not married,” Salim had said, adding that while Salman was drawn to ambitious and exciting women, he also wanted a very traditional married life.
He had pointed out that most women in the film industry were focused on building a career, which was completely fair. However, Salman, according to his father, expected something very different after marriage.
“Now when the commitment has started, he tries to convert them and looks for his mother in them. That is not possible,” Salim had shared.
Salman wanted a wife who would manage the home, drop the kids to school, cook, help with homework, and prioritise family, just like his mother had done. Salim admitted that expecting this from a working actress was unrealistic, even if she genuinely tried.

Salman’s deep emotional bond with his mother had also played a role in shaping his views. On a rare occasion, he had spoken about how deeply affected he was when Salim Khan married Helen, despite being married to Salma Khan.
“I’m a mama’s boy. I can’t bear to see her unhappy. She was very hurt when my father married again. I’d hate it when she’d wait up for him to come home.” Salman had said, recalling how painful that phase was for him.
In many ways, Salman Khan’s single status had seemed less about avoiding marriage and more about a sensitive heart caught between modern relationships and old-school values!
