The sci-fi adventure film Kalki 2898 AD was a massive hit, earning an estimated ₹1,027–1,200 crore worldwide. Fans have eagerly awaited updates on its sequel, and director Nag Ashwin has now shared exciting details.
Kalki 2: Nag Ashwin Gives Update On Shooting & Release Date
Filming for Kalki 2 is expected to begin in the second half of 2025, depending on the schedules of stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, who are busy with other projects. Nag Ashwin revealed that the script is already complete, and the team is ready to start shooting soon. Reports suggest production might kick off as early as June 2025. If all goes according to plan, the film is aiming for a December 2026 release.

The sequel will explore the sinister experiments of Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) in greater depth, unraveling his dark ambitions. It will also follow Bhairava (Prabhas) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) as they join forces to safeguard SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone) and her unborn child. This child is prophesied to be the final divine incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Kalki, destined to bring balance and hope to a fractured world.

Meanwhile, Prabhas has an impressive lineup of big-budget projects in the works. Currently, he is focused on the post-production of The Raja Saab, slated for an April release this year. The star will also feature in Fauji, directed by Sita Ramam filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi. Adding to his packed schedule are Salaar 2 and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated Spirit, which is yet to begin production.
