Karan Sharma’s time-loop comedy, starring Rajkummar Rao had a modest start at the box office on Friday.
According to reports, the film earned just over ₹6 crore on its opening day. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead, the movie failed to make a strong impact on Day 1.

According to early estimates, Bhool Chuk Maaf earned ₹6.75 crore nett in India on its opening day, with a Hindi occupancy rate of 19.36% on Friday. The film performed better than Rajkummar Rao’s previous release, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which opened with ₹5.5 crore. However, it fell significantly short of the actor’s blockbuster Stree 2, which had a massive ₹51.8 crore opening day. Both of those films were released last year.
A report said, “Rajkummar needs to snap out of his small town fascination, and fast. Wamiqa is a relatively fresh face, and grasps the ‘papa ki pari’ hook well. Sanjay Mishra and Raghubeer Yadav fare well. Tanishk Baghchi’s music is okay when viewed in context on screen, but doesn’t stand out. Overall, Bhool Chuk Maaf, a time-loop comedy, ends up stuck in a loop of its own clichés. The only thing harder to escape than a time loop is Rajkummar’s contract with small-town scripts. It tries to be a comedy, flirts with a social message, and ends up being the cinematic equivalent of a WhatsApp forward — familiar, repetitive, and mildly amusing at best.”

The story follows a man on the verge of marriage who discovers he’s trapped in a time loop, repeatedly reliving the day before his wedding. Just weeks before its release, Bhool Chuk Maaf became the center of controversy. Maddock Films, Dinesh Vijan’s production house, initially announced that the film would forgo its theatrical release on May 9 and instead premiere on Prime Video on May 16, citing increased national security measures due to Operation Sindoor.
Multiplex chain PVRINOX took legal action against the producers over their decision to release the film directly on Prime Video. However, an agreement was later reached between PVRINOX Limited, Maddock Films Pvt. Ltd., and Amazon MGM Studios, leading to the film’s theatrical release on May 23.
