The presence of Dhanush at the premiere of Son of Sardaar 2, starring Mrunal Thakur, quickly set off dating rumours.
Fans were taken aback to spot him at the screening of the Ajay Devgn–Mrunal Thakur comedy-drama. In a recent interview, Mrunal put the speculation to rest, calling Dhanush a good friend.

In a viral clip, Mrunal is seen rushing over to greet Dhanush, sharing a quick side hug before the Tamil star makes his way to the red carpet for the paparazzi. This moment sparked chatter that he had attended the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere specifically to support Mrunal. While Dhanush has remained silent on the buzz, Mrunal clarified that the Raanjhanaa actor was, in fact, invited by Ajay Devgn.

Mrunal Thakur said, “Dhanush is simply a good friend. I know there’s been a lot of chatter linking the two of us lately, and honestly, I found it quite amusing. He attended the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere, but there’s no room for misunderstanding—it was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”
Dhanush was previously married to filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth, daughter of legendary actor Rajinikanth. The two parted ways in 2022 and finalised their divorce in 2024. They share two sons, Yatra and Linga. Since the separation, Mrunal Thakur is the first actor to be romantically linked with Dhanush.
Professionally, Dhanush has an exciting line-up ahead, including the Tamil film Idly Kadai, Aanand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein opposite Kriti Sanon, and Vignesh Raja’s directorial D54. Meanwhile, Mrunal will next be seen in Dacoit: A Love Story. She also stars in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde, slated for a 2026 release.
