3 Idiots 2 Confirmed! Aamir Khan & Gang Returns!
Multiple reports have confirmed that the sequel is locked in, rolling toward production, and bringing the gang back together after fifteen long years.
First things first. The original cast is returning, which means we get Aamir Khan as Rancho (or Phunsukh Wangdu), Kareena Kapoor Khan as Pia, R. Madhavan as Farhan, and Sharman Joshi as Raju. Basically, our entire emotional support group from 2009 is back on screen.

Directing duties remain with Rajkumar Hirani, the man who gave us the iconic original. He is teaming up again with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Aamir for production, so the core team is intact. This is the cinematic equivalent of your college squad reuniting for one more epic adventure.

3 Idiots 2 To Go On Floors In 2026
Interestingly, the long planned Dadasaheb Phalke biopic that Aamir and Hirani were developing is currently paused. The script did not meet their expectations, so the duo decided to shift their focus to something they felt more confident about. Which is the 3 Idiots sequel.
The script is reportedly locked and ready, and the story picks up around 15 years after the original ending. Remember that hilarious yet emotional climax where Farhan, Raju, and Pia track down Rancho aka Wangdu at his school in Ladakh, Pia and Rancho reunite and kiss, and all’s well that ends well?
The sequel brings the characters together again for another exciting adventure. If everything stays on schedule, the movie is expected to begin filming in the 2nd half of 2026.
