FIR Against Ranveer Singh For Daiva Mimicry Controversy!
The Ranveer Singh Daiva mimicry controversy is officially back, and nope, it’s not just another Twitter debate this time. The situation has gone from internet outrage to legal trouble, and things just got very real, very fast.

FIR Against Ranveer Singh For Daiva Mimicry Controversy!
An FIR has been registered against Ranveer Singh at Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police Station. He’s being accused of hurting religious sentiments and disrespecting the sacred Chavundi Daiva tradition of coastal Karnataka.
So, what actually happened? The controversy started back in November 2025, during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
During the event, Ranveer allegedly mimicked a Daiva scene from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. What may have seemed like a dramatic, over-the-top moment on stage didn’t land well with many viewers. Social media quickly went into full meltdown mode, with users accusing the actor of mocking a ritual that is deeply sacred and culturally significant in coastal Karnataka.
Things got even messier after claims surfaced that Ranveer imitated expressions linked to Panjurli and Guliga Daiva in a crude, comical way. The complaint also alleges that he referred to the revered Chavundi Daiva as a ‘female ghost,’ which many called a major insult to religious beliefs and traditional practices.
Ranveer Singh Had Apologised For Hurting Sentiments

Ranveer did try damage control when the issue had spiralled back then. He had issued a public apology on Instagram Stories, saying he regretted hurting sentiments and never meant to offend any community or tradition. But clearly, that wasn’t enough to put the fire out.
The FIR has been filed under Sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The complaint was lodged by Prashanth Methal, a 46-year-old advocate from Bengaluru, and the court is set to hear the case on April 8.
This controversy proves that when culture and faith are involved, even a small misstep can have big consequences!
