Star Kids Quietly Exiting Karan Johar’s Dharma Banner?

For years, Karan Johar and Dharma Productions were seen as the ultimate launchpad for Bollywood’s star kids. If you were born into the industry and wanted a glossy debut, Dharma was the dream address. But in 2026, that image seems to be cracking, quietly but noticeably.

The biggest eyebrow-raiser is Janhvi Kapoor. One of KJo’s most closely backed protégées, she has reportedly exited Dharma Collab Artists Agency and signed with Collective Artists Network. Even more telling, she reportedly has no plans to sign new Dharma projects beyond existing commitments. That alone has Bollywood whispering.

She is not the only one stepping away. Alia Bhatt, Dharma’s biggest success story, is said to be rethinking her association after the underwhelming response to Jigra. Varun Dhawan, another KJo launch, is reportedly unhappy after being overshadowed by Rohit Saraf in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The buzz went to Saraf, not Varun, and that has not gone down well.

Then there’s the next generation. Ahaan Panday, once expected to debut with Dharma, chose YRF instead and struck gold with Saiyaara. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, and Suhana Khan have allegedly been warned to distance from Dharma.

Dharma’s recent films starring star kids, including Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Nadaaniyan, and Jigra, have either underperformed or failed to create real excitement.

Dharma’s plans to launch Aryaman Deol have reportedly stalled, with Bobby Deol said to be unhappy about how the banner is handling the grooming and positioning of star kids.

Ananya Panday remains the only star kid firmly in the Dharma camp, at least for now.

So what does this mean for Karan Johar? The kingmaker era may be shifting. With audiences demanding stronger performances and fresher faces, Dharma might need to rethink its formula. Opening doors to new, outsider talent may no longer be optional. It might just be survival.
