Fresh off the massive success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh exited Don 3, to avoid getting typecast in the gangster action zone. He is fast-tracking the zombie thriller Pralay instead.
It appears that Ranveer was reportedly unhappy with the Don 3 script and repeatedly asked for changes. As discussions dragged on, he was dissatisfied with the final draft and exited the project.

The timing, however, couldn’t have been worse. Don 3 was scheduled to go on floors in January 2026 and had already entered advanced pre-production. Excel Entertainment had reportedly invested heavily in script development, scheduling, and location planning by then.
Things turned icy soon after. After his Don 3 exit, Farhan Akhtar unfollowed Ranveer on Instagram, while Ranveer continued following Farhan.

The real bombshell came when Excel Entertainment reportedly demanded ₹40 crore as compensation for sunk development costs and delays.
Excel maintains that pre-production began only after Ranveer approved the script. Ranveer, on the other hand, insists he exited due to creative dissatisfaction and is not legally bound to pay.
A source told Variety, “Ranveer claims he exited the project because he was unhappy with the script. He repeatedly requested changes and was dissatisfied with the final draft. Excel, on the other hand, maintains that it moved ahead with pre-production only after Singh gave his approval.”
With tensions rising, the Producers Guild of India has stepped in to mediate. As of now, both sides are silent, negotiations are ongoing, and fans are left waiting. One thing is certain, this real-life drama has been just as gripping as any movie plot!
