Rajkummar Rao Trolled For Looking Old & Fat? Says He Had To Gain 9-10 Kgs For Nikam Biopic!
If social media did a double take recently, it’s because Rajkummar Rao looked nothing like… well, Rajkummar Rao. With visible weight gain, slightly greying hair and a completely different vibe, the actor left fans confused and trolls busy.

But now, he has finally addressed the chatter and the reason is as classic Rajkummar as it gets… total dedication to the craft.
Taking to Instagram, Rajkummar clarified that the transformation was completely intentional and done for his upcoming biopic Nikam, where he plays real-life public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. He revealed that he recently wrapped the film and changed his appearance to authentically portray the character.
“I’m not a believer in prosthetic as long as I can achieve the look through my hardwork which I’ve achieved in Nikam be it gaining weight or looking old (to play a certain age)or to make my hair thin which my hair stylist was very much against.”
And yes, the weight gain was as delicious as it sounds.
“For Nikam I had to gain around 9-10 kgs and I was eating 2 pizzas and lot of sweets and my fav Aloo Parathas, Biryani and to not use anything glam to look like the part. Hopefully when you will see the film which will be releasing soon you will be able to see all that hardwork in the film.”
Relatable much? Pizza, parathas, biryani, sweets… method acting but make it foodie-friendly.
Rajkummar Rao Next Biopic On Sourav Ganguly
But there’s no rest for the committed actor. Rajkummar also shared that he’s already in transition mode, shedding those extra kilos to prep for his next big transformation, a biopic on cricket legend Sourav Ganguly.
“And now it’s the transition phase and time to lose these extra kgs and get ready to slip into Ganguly mode.”
From pizza-powered prosecutor to cricket icon loading… Rajkummar Rao doesn’t just play characters, he becomes them. Method-acting 101.
