Last year, the internet was set on fire when reports claimed that Deepika Padukone was dropped from the much-hyped sequel Kalki 2. Now, it looks like the role has officially found a new face, and it’s none other than Sai Pallavi.

So what really went down? Deepika had allegedly asked for a 25% fee hike, a reduced eight-hour workday, and five-star accommodation for a 25-member crew. Which the producers couldn’t agree on.

Soon after, the makers released a firm statement saying that Deepika was no longer part of the project because a film like Kalki ‘deserves commitment’. And just like that, the controversy exploded.
There were rumours that the role would be scrapped off entirely. Fast forward to now, as per Bollywood Hungama, it is being said that the role was never meant to be written off.
A source stated, “It is Sai (replacing Deepika). There was never any question of scrapping the role after Deepika’s exit.”
Interestingly, Sai Pallavi is already on a major career high. She will be playing the much-coveted role of Sita in Ramayana, and is also set to star opposite Junaid Khan in Ek Din. Clearly, big projects only.

Meanwhile, Deepika reunites with Shah Rukh Khan in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film King. It also stars Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, with Abhishek Bachchan playing the antagonist.
She will also team up with Allu Arjun for Atlee’s much-awaited project, tentatively titled AA22xA6.
