Dostana 2 was announced in 2019, with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya in the lead.
The Collin D Cunha directorial has been facing hurdles because of the pandemic and to add fuel to the fire – latest reports suggest Kartik has been dropped from the movie!
As reported by Pinkvilla, Dostana 2’s producer Karan Johar and director Collin D Cunha apparently decided Kartik will no longer be a part of the film when he cancelled the latest planned movie schedule.
“He committed to complete the film multiple times over the last few months, but backed out at the last-minute citing one or the other reason. The sudden cancellation of shoot from his end resulted in date diary of everyone else from the cast of Dostana going haywire,” the source revealed.
Moreover, Janhvi Kapoor also lost out on Mr Lele as the dates clashed with Dostana 2. And now she reportedly can’t shoot either since Dostana 2’s shoot was cancelled at the last minute!
And not only Dostana 2, but Karan has reportedly decided not to work with Kartik again for future projects!
“Kartik was to collaborate with Karan on a new film, a cricket story, to be helmed by Gunjan Saxena director, Sharan Sharma. However, even that film has gone on the backburner, and they will approach a new actor soon. Likewise, even Dostana 2 has not been shelved. In-fact, the makers will rope in another actor in place of Kartik and reshoot the film,” the source told Pinkvilla.
Bollywood Hungama report states – “The reason for Kartik Aaryan to not continue with the film as stated by him is the creative differences after one and a half years and completing over 20 days of the shoot. This has never happened in the history of Dharma where an actor has walked out of the film for creative issues. Dharma has decided not to work with him in the future.”
What a royal mess, indeed. Kartik has not yet confirmed these reports. He still has Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake as well as a film with Hansal Mehta.
