Later, Karan Johar unfollowed Kartik on Instagram, while the latter is still following KJo.
So, now who is replacing Kartik in this Collin D Cunha directorial? Yesterday reports were doing rounds that Akshay Kumar has apparently joined the cast of Dostana 2. As per those reports, the actor has reportedly come on board to play Janhvi Kapoor’s sibling.
Now, another actor’s name has popped up as Kartik Aaryan’s replacement. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, it’s none other than Rajkummar Rao. If reports are to be believed, the Roohi actor was KJo’s original choice for Dostana 2.
“Dharma Productions is considering to bring Rajkummar Rao on board for ‘Dostana 2’. He was their first choice when the project was being made but at the time, he couldn’t do the film due to his dates. Now, that makers are keen on enlisting someone, they are once again thinking of Rao who was fit for the role. Interestingly, Rao and Janhvi Kapoor recently worked together in horror-comedy ‘Roohi’ and have a great work rapport,” a source revealed to the portal.
“Karan Johar is still figuring out who to cast for the lead role. The director Collin D’Cunha is currently working making changes in the script, accordingly,” the source further added.
Dharma Productions announced Dostana 2 with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and debutant Lakshya in 2019.
On April 16, the makers made an official announcement of Kartik Aaryan no longer being a part of Dostana 2.
