This Thursday, the 23rd of September, the nominations for the International Emmy Awards 2021 were announced.
Apart from several worldwide nominations, our cue for celebration came with the 3 Indian nominees on this year’s list!
1. Aarya
Aarya, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, is nominated in the Emmy’s Drama Series category. Aarya stars Sushmita Sen in the lead role. Sushmita shared this good news on her Instagram and we’re just as excited!
Summary: Aarya Sareen (Sushmita Sen) is a mother and a wife but is quite unaware of the illegal business her husband is a part of. Things go badly for their family after Aarya’s husband Tej Sareen (Chandrachur Singh), a pharma baron, is mysteriously killed.
2. Vir Das: For India
Vir Das: For India, which is Vir’s comedy special set live on Netflix, has been nominated for the Emmy’s Comedy category. An ecstatic Vir took to Instagram and shared this excitedly!
3. Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been nominated in the Best Performance By An Actor category for his role in Serious Men, which is a 2020 film based on Manu Joseph’s novel of the same name.
Summary: Tormented with his underprivileged societal status, a father capitalises on his son’s newfound fame as a boy-genius. Little does he realise that the secret he harbours will destroy the very thing he loves the most.
