After 4 years of marriage, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation this year on October 2.
Amidst the divorce news, many rumours started going rife about why the couple had parted ways. Samantha had rubbished reports of affairs and abortions sternly.
The latest speculation that is doing rounds – Naga Chaitanya allegedly felt betrayed by Samantha’s refusal to stop doing bold, intimate scenes and item numbers on-screen after marriage. And this reportedly led to the couple splitting up.
A source told Bollywood Life that her in-laws Nagarjuna Akkineni and others were stumped by Samantha’s sex scene in The Family Man 2 and felt that she had allegedly tarnished their reputation and ideals. However, the source continued, Samantha had outrightly refused to bow down to their alleged patriarchal, orthodox and sexist thinking and hence, decided to move on from the marriage!
In a recent media interaction, when asked about his choice in roles, Naga Chaitanya had taken a dig at Samantha by saying – “I am game for all kinds of roles. However, those roles should not affect my family and our reputation. I will not accept roles that would embarrass my family members.”
