Ranveer Singh‘s highly-anticipated movie ’83’ has managed to complete its first week of theatrical run.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie was released in cinemas on Christmas eve, December 24, 2021.
’83’, which chronicles India’s historic win at the 1983 World Cup, sees Ranveer in legendary cricketer Kapil Dev‘s role. The movie also stars Harrdy Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Deepika Padukone, amongst others, in key roles.
The biographical sports drama opened to positive reviews by both the critics and the audience. However, the movie has faced stiff competition from the Hollywood movie ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and Allu Arjun’s pan-India flick ‘Pushpa‘ and even the current Covid-19 situation impacted 83’s box office collection to a certain extent.
The Ranveer Singh starrer had apparently collected Rs 25.16 crores on its opening day. On Day 7, ’83’ has managed to cross the 100-crore mark at the box office and has supposedly collected a whopping amount of total Rs 115.17 CRORES worldwide.
The movie has been released in 5 languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
