Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s dream project Heeramandi is being made as a series exclusively for Netflix.
Now, we hear that there has been new additions to the cast of this eight-episode period drama web series.
As per the latest TOI report, Aditi Rao Hydari has been roped in to to play a pivotal role in Heeramandi. For the unversed, Aditi also featured in SLB’s Padmaavat.
As the report further suggests, Fardeen Khan will star opposite Aditi in this series.
Earlier, it was rumoured that yesteryear actress Mumtaz has also been approached for this much-anticipated series. Talking to a portal, the 74-year-old actress said –
“We did meet in his office and the meeting went well. But it’s premature yet to say if I am doing his Heeramandi. This whole speculation business started when Manisha Koirala posted a picture of us together. But like I said, I can’t say anything on this until Mr Bhansali makes an announcement.”
Reportedly, Bollywood celebs like Madhuri Dixit Nene, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, and Sayani Gupta are said to be part of the show.
Set in Lahore of pre-Independent India, the series will reportedly showcase the stories of courtesans, the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi (a district in Lahore).
