We’re always sick of hearing how this Bollywood movie is copied, inspired, plagiarised or adapted from so and so Hollywood movie! Our brains are almost accustomed to seeing old content from Hollywood movies wrapped in a new and shiny gift paper and handed over to us! 

But little did we know that inspiration for movies has never been a one way street. 

Get ready to have your mind blown as here’s a list of 5 Hollywood movies that have been adapted from popular Bollywood movies: 

  • Leap Year (2010) – Jab We Met (2007)

Imtiaz Ali’s much loved flick ‘Jab We Met’ starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor is yet remembered for its amazing lovestory & ofcourse the cute & bubbly character “Geet”. The 2007 film not only became a hit in India but overseas too. The movie reportedly was an inspiration for the movie “Leap Year.”

  • Just Go With It (2011) – Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005)

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston starrer “Just Go With It” (2011) is a Hollywood romedy film. The plot of the movie is similar to the Hindi movie “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya” starring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen. It is about how a man fakes to be in an unhappy marriage infront of his girlfriend. He then introduces his assistant to be the fake wife and eventually falls in love with her.

  • Delivery Man (2013) – Vicky Donor (2012)

‘Vicky Donor’ marked the debut of leading stars in the industry right now, Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam. The 2012 dealt with the sensitive topic of sperm donation and infertility with a dash of humour. The film received positive response from the audience and critics and it performed well at the box-office. The movie also inspired director Kenn Scott to remake the movie in Hollywood as “Delivery Man.”

  • A Common Man (2013) – A Wednesday (2008)

Wednesday’ is one of the best films of Bollywood. The thriller flick starred Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and Jimmy Shergill in pivotal roles. The critically acclaimed film not only performed well and won the hearts of the audiences but also inspired Sri Lankan filmmaker, Chandran Rutnam to officially remake it under the title “A Common Man.”

  • Win A Date With Tad Hamilton (2004) – Rangeela (1995)

“Win A Date With Tad Hamilton” is a Hollywood romantic comedy movie released in 2004. This movie is similar to the Hindi movie “Rangeela” (1995) which starred Aamir Khan and Urmila Matondkar. The story plot is the extremely identical as the girl is attracted to a famous actor and tries to approach him. On the other hand, a road romeo tries to compete with that actor to win the girl’s heart.
