Popular social media platform, Instagram has rolled out a new feature of memorializing accounts of late actors and adding the ‘Remembering’ tag to their profile.
Earlier, Instagram had memorialised Sushant Singh Rajput’s account after his untimely demise. The actor died by suicide after hanging himself in his Bandra residence. After Sushant, Instagram has memoralised the IG account of the popular veteran actor, Irrfan Khan.
The Hindi Medium star was fighting against neuroendocrine tumor for two years and succumbed to the disease on April 29, 2020. His death left the industry in shock and tears.
His Instagram account now holds a tag of ‘Remembering’ and his ID has been officially converted into a memorialized account.
According to Instagram’s policy, the accounts that get memorialized become a place to remember a person’s life after they have passed away. Once Instagram memorialises an account, nobody is allowed to log in to the account or make any changes to the existing posts, comments, or followers and the term ‘remembering’ gets added next to the name of the deceased person in the profile. The posts that the deceased person had shared on their Instagram account will still be visible for the audience.
