Taapsee Pannu supports Jaya Bachchan and speaks out against the vilification of Bollywood!
Talking to India Today, Taapsee Pannu spoke on Jaya Bachchan’s Parliament speech, the vilification of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut and Rhea Chakraborty.
Taapsee says Jaya Bachchan ‘hit the nail on the head’ and Rhea Chakraborty does not deserve the kind of treatment she has gotten from the media. “In this particular case, as I have always maintained, I really didn’t know her at all. I still don’t know her. The only problem I had was the kind of unfair trial that was happening and the kind of judgement that was passed on her. It’s not that before we haven’t had criminals from other industries or people being caught for doing something wrong from other industries. Even in our industry, for that matter. We have had a couple of big stars being caught but the way this girl went through the media trial and physical harassment at some places, it was something very shocking and something I couldn’t hold back. I had to speak up without even knowing anything about her.”
“There are people who support this point of view and there are people who probably have just written her off in their mind before the court or the investigative agencies have given their verdict. They want to force this opinion in everyone’s head. So I think that is wrong. Do you want Rhea Chakraborty to go to jail or you want the culprit to go to jail?“ Pannu continues.
Talking about Jayaji’s speech she says, “It’s strange to see that so many women have spoken up from the industry contrary to the number of men who could speak and probably who are valued more in the industry. Hats off to ma’am. She has just hit the nail on the head. What we couldn’t put in words. She has said each and every word so precisely with facts that most of the things that I am going to tell you today might be from whatever she said already.”
As for Taapsee’s thoughts on Kangana Ranaut, she says, “Her remarks stopped affecting me long back. When you keep doing the same thing again and again it loses its impact. It lost impact on me long back.“
She added, “You cannot call an industry worthless place, when that’s the place that has given you relevance. You are a star now because you featured in a Bollywood film. The industry provided you the platform and that’s why the world is listening to you. Ma’am righty said that jis thaali main kha rahe hai ussi main ched ho raha hai.“
