Rhea Chakraborty Granted Bail; Brother Showik’s Bail Denied!

Yesterday, a special NDPS court had extended Rhea and Showik Chakraborty’s bail till October 20.

On Wednesday, the Bombay High Court who had reserved its order on their bail plea, finally announced their verdict.

After nearly a month in jail, Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty in an alleged drugs case related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

While Rhea was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh, the high court rejected the plea of her brother Showik Chakraborty and Abdel Basit Parihar.

The HC also granted bail to Sushant Singh Rajput’s cook Dipesh Sawant and his domestic help Samuel Miranda on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000 each.

High Court has ordered Rhea to mark her presence for 10 days at the police station after release, deposit her passport, not travel abroad without court permission and inform investigating officer if she has to leave Greater Mumbai.

Rhea had been arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau on charges of organizing drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput. She was accused of being “an active member of a drugs syndicate”.

In her bail petition, Rhea Chakraborty had alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput “took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit” and that she and her brother are sole targets of a witch-hunt.

Rhea Chakraborty had also argued that the charges against her were too severe compared to the quantity of the alleged drugs involved. She had accused the NCB of spinning a false narrative.

Truth and Justice have prevailed – says Maneshinde

On Rhea’s bail being granted, her advocate commented – “We are Delighted by the Order of the Hon’ble Bombay High Court granting bail to Rhea Chakraborty. Truth and Justice have prevailed and ultimately the submissions on facts and law have been accepted by Justice Sarang V Kotwal. The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch hunt by three central agencies .. the CBI , ED and NCB of Rhea should come to and end . We remain committed to Truth. Satya Meva Jayate“.
