Netflix’s Ginny Weds Sunny is the oddball of romantic movies which has an eyecatching trailer to it.
From a ‘Hotel Raddison’ romance to a dhabba one, the movie takes us through a love triangle… or should we say, quadruple? Either way, it is hilarious and sensitive.

Storyline
Ginny Weds Sunny is a combination of different type of romances all directed towards but one girl. Ginny (Yami Gautam) is in the spotlight and she is a strong-headed, tough woman who still has confused feelings for her ex-beau, Nishant (Suhail Nayyar). In comes Sunny (Vikrant Massey), who is a small-town boy with a big dream of wanting to open his restaurant. He has been head over heels in love with Ginny for as long as he can remember. However, his love story gets a tiny nudge by Ginny’s mother (Ayesha Raza) who paves the path to their romance.
Stalker much?
Following Ginny’s mother’s instructions, Sunny ends up stalking her for a long time to get her attention. This evokes the whole stalker theme in the movie although the stalking was done pretty subtly and harmlessly.
Whether it was the metro station or Ginny’s office route, Sunny seemed to be everywhere and her mother is the mastermind behind his sudden appearances.
However, things turn out for the best as the pair end up only getting closer to each other in time which then eventually turns friendship into love.
Acting
The acting quotient in the film is brilliant as the movie’s cast was carefully selected with the most suitable actors for the characters they had to play. However, Vikrant’s accent could be caught slipping from time to time. Certain English words were pronounced sloppily while the others a bit too impeccably which made the continuity of the character’s language trait fall off the grid.
Apart from this small mishap, Yami and Vikrant did great jobs as leads and they certainly do seem to have chemistry as a couple.
Hit or Miss?
The movie is definitely entertaining but not worthy of a rewatch. There is no ‘wow’ factor is it’s simply just another romance movie with a hint of fun to it.
