In June 2019, Akshay Kumar announced his upcoming project “Bachchan Pandey” starring Kriti Sanon as the lady lead and directed by Farhad Samji.
“Bachchan Pandey” faced a delay due to the pandemic and reports suggest that Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon start shooting in Jaisalmer from January till March.
A source close to ‘Bachchan Pandey” said that the team is ready with the required permissions and the shoot locations are locked down. The source says “Akshay, along with leading lady Kriti Sanon, director Farhad Samji and the rest of the unit will fly to Jaisalmer for a marathon schedule of over 60 days during which they will be filming in real locations. Last month, the production team secured all the requisite permissions and locked the shooting spots.”
The team of “Bachchan Pandey” will be staying in a hotel in Jaisalmer and will shoot some indoor scenes there itself. Teams from all over the country will be joining the crew in Jaislamer to shoot elaborate action sequences.
The source continued “The team will undergo an extensive workshop on all SOPs to ensure a no-contact set. The entire cast and crew will undergo a mandatory Covid test towards December end and the crew will be quarantined for three days before the shoot. Special medical rooms have been set up in Jaisalmer and locations will be sanitised the night before the shoot.“
Akshay will be seen playing the role of a gangster in this movie who meets a journalist, played by Kriti Sanon. Their love for cinema brings them together. Akshay’s character is reportedly a wannabe actor while Kriti aspires to become a director. “Akshay is looking forward to exploring the crime space that elicits laughs. His get-up will be high on prosthetics,” the source added.
