While most of us are still looking for ‘the one’, actress and birthday girl Bipasha Basu has already crossed that path successfully.
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover got married on the 30th of April in 2016 in an intimate ceremony and have stayed happily ever since.
Celebrating her 42nd birthday, let’s take a look at how the couple fell in love.
Prior to tying the knot with Karan, Bipasha was in a 10-year long relationship with actor John Abraham and the two were in deep scrutiny of the media. However, with John things had gone downhill and Bipasha was quite the melancholic damsel post that.
The tough split from John only landed up with Bipasha meeting her now-husband Karan Singh Grover in 2015. If you think this power couple had it easy, you’re mistaken. While Bipasha was heartbroken and sceptical about relationships, Karan has come out of two failed marriages, one to Shraddha Nigam and the other to Jennifer Winget.
The two met during the making of their film ‘Alone’ and kept meeting even after the shoot was done. As reported by HT, Bipasha had also disclosed the reason why the two have a healthy marriage. She says, “Our relationship’s key fundamental foundation is friendship. It’s selfless and loving.”
We also think nothing can beat their proposal story as it is definitely the cutest part of their relationship. The couple were in Koh Samui celebrating the New Year. Bipasha said she didn’t believe she would get married till Karan proposed to her. “Well, I believed in marriage, but I never thought I would get married. So when he proposed, my first reaction was… ‘what are you telling me?’”
Adding to this, Karan had said, “Let me complete the story for you. We were in Koh Samui, it was December 31 and the sky was lit with fireworks. I was carrying the ring with me and something told me that this is the right time. So while she was capturing the fireworks on video, I took the opportunity and gave her the ring.“
Sadly every love story has obstacles and this one just happened to be Bipasha’s mother who wasn’t happy that her daughter would be marrying someone who was already divorced… twice!
Bipasha had also commented on it saying, “It didn’t bother me and we spoke about it. I believe that everyone has a journey, and it is very easy for anyone to exclaim, ‘Oh…this is his third marriage, nahin chalega… divorce ho jaayega. I feel I am lucky, as I live only for love. And no man has given me more love and respect than Karan.”
We do know that everything has finally worked out as the couple are tight as ever and will hopefully continue being the same throughout eternity.
