Om Raut’s highly anticipated mythological drama ‘Adipurush’ officially went on floors today.
South Superstar Prabhas will be in the titular role as Adipurush (Lord Ram) and Saif Ali Khan will essay the antagonist Lankesh (Ravana) in the magnum opus.
As per latest reports, Kriti Sanon will play Sita in this ‘Ramayana’ adaptation and Angad Bedi will be seen as Saif’s son, Meghnad aka Indrajit. Sunny Singh will be seen in the role of Laxman. According to a Peeping Moon report, veteran actress Hema Malini has been approached for a key role – Lord Rama’s mother Kaushalya.
Scheduled to release on August 11, 2022 – Adipurush does promise a lavish spectacle with a mammoth budget of around 400 crores! Though the buzz around the movie has been exciting, it did have a brush with controversy after Saif Ali Khan had said that they would portray the ‘humane’ side of Raavan.
He had commented – “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose.”
He later withdrew the statement with an official apology.
