With the farmers’ protest going on for a long time now, Bollywood celebrities such as Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and more have lent their support.
Now, in the awakening of the protest, International music sensation Rihanna also commented on the same.
Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Harbhajan Mann, Jasbir Jassi, Riteish Deshmukh, Hansal Mehta and more have already voiced their support to the protesting farmers. However, now the ‘Diamonds’ singer took to Twitter and shared a CNN article regarding the New Delhi internet cut tweeting, “Why aren’t we talking about this?”
For the unversed, farmers all around India have been protesting against the Union Government’s Farmers Bills since the last year because they benefit largely from private food buyers at the expense of producers.
The Indian government blocked all mobile internet/data services in multiple parts of New Delhi on Saturday as protesting farmers began a one-day hunger strike after a week of violent clashes with the police. The blocked internet services were disbanded until 11 pm on Sunday to ‘maintain public safety’ apparently.
