Earlier, Uttar Pradesh police filed an FIR in Noida against the Amazon Prime Video India Originals head Aparna Purohit and six others, for the derogatory depiction of Hindu deities, inappropriately depicting Uttar Pradesh police personnel, and promoting religious enmity through the political series ‘Tandav’.

Later Aparna filed an anticipatory bail stating that the web series was a work of fiction and there was no intention to outrage the religious feeling of any community.

Now, according to The Indian EXPRESS, yesterday (25th Feb), Allahabad High Court has rejected to grant any anticipatory bail to Aparna in connection with the ongoing investigations regarding the cases filed against the ‘Tandav’ makers.

While rejecting the plea, the court supposedly stated, “This tendency on the part of the Hindi film industry is growing and if not curbed in time, it may have disastrous consequences for the Indian social, religious and communal order.”

Allahabad HC dismissed Aparna Purohit’s anticipatory bail plea

“There appears to be a design behind such acts on the part of the people who just give a disclaimer in all the films and depict things in the movies which are really religiously, socially and communally offensive in nature,” the court added.

As reported by Zee news, the court also observed, “Western filmmakers have refrained from ridiculing Lord Jesus or the Prophet but Hindi filmmakers have done this repeatedly and are still doing this most unabashedly with Hindu gods and goddesses.”

Earlier, an FIR had been filed against ‘Tandav’ team for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments

A single-judge bench of Justice Sidharth reportedly said that earlier in a similar case, another bench granted interim protection from arrest to the applicant, but she was not cooperating with the investigation.
