Bollywood lost its another gem today.
Veteran actress Shashikala passed away today in Mumbai, at the age of 88.
While the reason for her demise is yet to be known, the news was broken by writer Kiran Kotrial on his Facebook account.
Born in Solapur, Maharashtra, Shashikala Om Prakash Saigal had worked in films like ‘Baadshah’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, ‘Daku’, ‘Raasta’.
Apart from movies, she was a part of popular shows like ‘Sonpari’ and ‘Jeena Isi ka Naam Hai’.
For her contribution to Indian Cinema, Shashikala was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in the year 2007.
