Early Life

Born and brought up in Kuwait, Adline hails from a Mangalorean Catholic family. Her roots trace back to Udyavara in Udupi, Karnataka. Castelino finished her schooling up to the 10th grade in Kuwait after which she migrated to Mumbai and completed her graduation. At the tender age of 15, her main goal was to become strong and financially independent.

Pageantry

Adline had been working as a model even before entering herself into various pageants. In 2018, she had participated in an online pageantry after which she joined the Cocoaberry Training Academy (Mumbai) to pursue her dream in wanting to become a reputed pageant. The academy then crowned her ‘Miss Cocoaberry Diva’ in 2019.

The same year, Adline auditioned for Miss Diva 2020 where she was shortlisted as the city finalist (in Chennai). She also won the title ‘Miss Smasher’ for her stellar badminton performance during the sports round. She was later on crowned ‘Miss Diva Universe 2020’ in Mumbai.

Adline naturally represented India at the Miss Universe 2020 competition after her ‘Miss Diva Universe’ crowning which was held in Hollywood, USA. Towards the end of the pageantry, Castelino was placed 3rd Runner-up making her country proud.

Adeline gained more fame during the Miss Universe pageant competition after responding to the question, “Should countries lockdown due to COVID-19 despite the strain on their economies, or should they open their borders and risk a potential increase in infection rates?”

She said, “Good evening universe. Well, coming from India and witnessing what India is experiencing right now, I have realized something very important that nothing is more important than the health of your loved ones. And you have to draw a balance between economy and health. And that can only be done when the government works with the people hand in hand and produces something that will work with the economy. Thank you.”

Social Work

Adline works with a welfare organisation called ‘Vikas Sahayog Pratishthan’ (VSP) which functions to provide a sustainable livelihood for farmers, so as to curb farmers’ suicides and inequality.

Castelino also initiated fundraisers for the Akshaya Patra Foundation, to help provide meals and packed grocery kits to the marginalized and low-income segment of the society, comprising daily wage workers, migrant labourers, people at old age homes and night shelters. Not only this, but she has also supported Smile Train’s campaign to end the COVID stigma which was the need of the hour.

Using the crowdfunding platform Ketto, Adline has raised money for the Child Help Foundation. In August 2020, she associated with a campaign to spread awareness about polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which is a very common condition among women of all ages.
