The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has worked with renowned director Mani Ratnam for ‘Iruvar’, ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavan’.
The ADHM actress is reuniting with the filmmaker for the upcoming Tamil historical drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel of the same name, which is set in the backdrop of Chola Dynasty. The period drama will be releasing in 2 parts – take a look at the first instalment’s poster shared by Aishwarya:
Apart from Aishwarya Rai, the star cast includes Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others. Oscar-winner AR Rahman will be composing the music.
The project recently resumed filming and as per Indian Express report, the shooting is expected to wrap up by August this year. The 1st part is gearing up for a 2022 release.
As per previous buzz, Aishwarya is allegedly playing a double role – as both Princess Nandini and Nandini’s mother Mandakini Devi.
