Alia Bhatt has two major theatre releases opening in 2022…
Both of them are period dramas; one is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and the other is S. S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’.
Both the films will see Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in prominent roles. In Gangubai Kathiawadi ( inspired by a chapter on Gangubai Kothewali from Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai novel) Alia plays the titular role of the mafia queen.
Ajay plays a mobster, who allegedly falls in love with Gangubai while teaching her the tricks of the trade. RRR will feature Alia as Sita, the love interest of Alluri Sitaramaraju (played by Ram Charan). Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn will be seen as a mentor to Jr NTR (playing Komaram Bheem) and Ram Charan’s characters.
Gangubai Kathiawadi was supposed to hit the theatres on 6 January 2022, and RRR was slated for release on 7 January 2022. In order to avoid the big clash at the box office, Gangubai Kathiawadi makers have postponed their release date.
