Pankaj Tripathi’s Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga movie trailer was released recently.
Written and Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the movie is based on a true story. It also features Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta in prominent roles.

The story is inspired by the real events that happened in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in U.P. Apparently, in a ploy to gain compensation from the government, local families near Pilibhit Tiger Reserve would send elderly family members into the forest as tiger preys! They would then relocate the dead bodies to the fields and feign it as a ‘tiger attack’.
In Sherdil, Pankaj plays Gangaram – a poor farmer who voluntarily decides to go into the jungle to be hunted by the tiger, so that his family can get a hefty compensation for his death.
